In Tekirdağ’s Çorlu district, police seized 24.5 kilograms of skunk hidden inside fuel tanks of a Bulgarian-plated car, detaining two suspects in the operation.
The Narcotics Department of Tekirdağ Police, acting under the instructions of the Çorlu Public Prosecutor’s Office, launched an investigation targeting suspects involved in international drug trafficking.
Following approximately three months of technical and physical surveillance, authorities identified a car arriving from Bulgaria suspected of carrying a large quantity of drugs.
The Sofia-registered vehicle was stopped on the Edirne-Istanbul TEM Highway upon entering Turkey, and Bulgarian nationals Dimitar D. (59) and Slaveva D. (53) were taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered 24.5 kilograms of skunk concealed inside five fuel tanks located beneath the car.
After processing at the police station, Dimitar D. and Katerina Slaveva D. were referred to the courthouse, where they were remanded in custody by the court.
