On Friday Turkey will extradite to Bulgaria Dimitar Zhelyazkov (a.k.a.The Eyes)- an emblematic figure from the Bulgarian underground who spent six months in a Turkish prison .
Zhelyazkov returns to Bulgaria after Turkey approved Bulgaria’s request for extradition. Dimitar Zhelyazkov was detained in Turkey following a Bulgarian arrest warrant.
He is suspected as the leader of a criminal group for racketeering, arson, extortion, and drug trafficking. The group was intercepted in a police operation of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior in August 2018.
Dimitar Zhelyazkov will be commended to the Bulgarian authorities at the police station on Ataturk airport in Istanbul.
