Bulgaria Takes Over Rotating Chairmanship-in-Office of Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation


Bulgaria takes over the rotating Chairmanship-in-Office of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in the first half of 2019.


The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release Wednesday. The motto of the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office is "Sea of Opportunities" and the priorities include developing BSEC as a project-oriented organization, and cooperation in culture, transport and environmental protection.

Other areas of focus are enhancing the business contacts between the countries in the Black Sea region and better coordination of the work of BSEC and its bodies which include the Parliamentary Assembly of BSEC, the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, the BSEC Business Council, and the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS). 


 MEMBER STATES


As the current head of BSEC, Bulgaria will also work for full interaction between the EU and BSEC. 

BSEC was set up in 1992, and Bulgaria was one of the 11 founding members. The current members are Bulgaria, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
