The press service of the Bulgarian President Boyko Borissov has announced that during a conversation  this morning (22 March) with Council President Donald Tusk, the Bulgarian PM has insisted that the “leaders’meeting” with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan should be held.
Borissov is in Brussels today and tomorrow for the March EU summit. For the first time, the Bulgarian PM will face the international press alongside Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Council President Donald Tusk. Bulfgaria holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU for the first half of 2018.
A “leaders’meeting” with, in the format Juncker-Tusk-Borissov- Erdoğan  is expected in the Bulgarian port city of Varna on 26 March. However, the meeting became conditional on 23 February, upon the insistence of Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiades, who insisted that Ankara should stop “illegal violations” in the Cypriot economic zone.
