Rodopi Municipality delegation visits Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı

A delegation led by Pavel Mihaylov, Mayor of Rodopi Municipality in Plovdiv Province, paid a courtesy visit to Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı.

Mayor Subaşı welcomed the visiting delegation with flowers in front of the municipal building and later hosted them in her office. Commenting on the visit, Subaşı noted that this marked the second meeting under the sister city protocol between Bilecik and Rodopi municipalities.

“The foundations of our sisterhood have been firmly established,” Subaşı said. “This is our second meeting with the mayor, deputy mayors, and other colleagues from our sister municipality. We are very pleased to be together. With the authorization of our valuable Municipal Council, we formalized this sister city relationship.”

Subaşı added that the Rodopi delegation would participate in various programs and visits in the city over two days.

“A similar process was followed in their city, and we were later invited to Rodopi Municipality in Bulgaria for the sister city protocol. We were warmly hosted, had the opportunity to explore their traditions and customs, and discussed potential joint projects. Today’s visit represents the second step in this process. We hosted the delegation at our municipality and prepared a comprehensive program. We will tour our facilities together, and tomorrow’s program will continue with visits to districts and industrial zones, concluding with the planting of a friendship tree in the fire-affected area.”

Highlighting that the collaboration between the two cities goes beyond the protocol, Subaşı emphasized:

“We are examining in detail how we can develop cooperation through European Union projects and funding. It is a great honor and pleasure to sign a sister city protocol with Rodopi Municipality.”

Mayor Mihaylov: “We aim to strengthen our cooperation”

Rodopi Mayor Pavel Mihaylov recalled that the sister city protocol with Bilecik was signed last year.

“I sincerely thank you for the warm welcome. I was very impressed by Bilecik’s natural beauty. We will explore ways to establish cultural and social projects between our cities. Every municipality has its challenges, and through this visit, we will share these issues and potential solutions with our counterparts,” he stated.
