Eight poems by Turkish poet and writer İbrahim Tığ have been published in the 31st issue (October 2025) of Slovoto dnes (“Word Today”), the official publication of the Bulgarian Writers’ Union.
The published poems—Theater, Kandahan, Nara, Life, Immigrant, Darkness, Hope, and Bottomless Well—were translated into Bulgarian by writer Ahmet Emin Atasoy.
In the magazine, Atasoy commented on Tığ’s work:
“In the latest 31st issue (October 2025) of Slovoto dnes, the official organ of the Bulgarian Writers’ Union, we are delighted to introduce one of today’s distinguished and contemporary Turkish poets, İbrahim Tığ (born 1970), to our readers with his poems Theater, Kandahar, Nara, Darkness, Hope, Life, Immigrant, Poster, and Bottomless Well. I would like to thank the editorial team for giving me this opportunity.” The publication dedicated a full page to Tığ’s poetry.
Who is İbrahim Tığ?
İbrahim Tığ was born in 1970 in Bakırcılar Village, Devrek, Turkey. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Devrek and graduated from Dicle University with a degree in architecture.
He began his literary career in 1986, and his poems have appeared in numerous literary journals, including Kıyı, Karşı, Gerçek Sanat, Aykırı Sanat, Milliyet Sanat, İnsancıl, Tay, Tan (Yugoslavia), Ortam (TRNC), Türkstar (Germany), Diogen (USA), AZAHAR Revista Poetica (Spain), Yazı (Azerbaijan), XaAk cy3u (Halk Sözü, Uzbekistan), Neuma (Romania), Литература (Russia), Slovoto dnes (Bulgaria), Ünlem, Damar, Eski Edebiyat, Biçem, Şehir, Sözcükler, Varlık, Yaklaşım, Lacivert, Evrensel, Berfin Bahar, Keşke, Yeni E, Sadece Şiir, KE, Sarmal Çevrim, Akatalpa, Edebiyatist, Mavi Yeşil, among others.
His poetry has been translated into Azerbaijani, Uzbek, English, Romanian, Spanish, Russian, and Persian.
Tığ has worked as a reporter for 2000’e Doğru, Cumhuriyet, and Aydınlık newspapers, as well as Anadolu Agency. In 1994, he founded the Günlük Bölge Haber Gazetesi in Devrek, serving as its owner and writer. He has also written columns for the daily Anayurt newspaper.
He is a member of the Turkish Writers’ Union (TYS), the International PEN Turkey Center Supervisory Board, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), and the Turkish Journalists’ Association (TGC).
